My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Rhaenyra was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement.

Why Rhaenyra might be the one for you:
Rhaenyra may be royalty in the House of Dragons but our Rhaenyra just wants to be royalty in someone's warm home with caring people. She would not mind if she gets a name change either. Here we will call her R and let her new owner decide on a name. R does not have a royal face unless you consider a big smiley mouth and goofy face to be royal. She has little floppy ears to continue her goofy look. She loves going on walks. She checks often with her walker to make sure everything is OK. She solicits pets from everyone she meets. She notices other dogs and doesn't do much about them. She is easily distracted by things that need sniffing in her mind - think sticks and leaves. She plays nicely with toys - after sniffing them. Her ideal adopter will be patient and willing to move at R's pace. Someone who can read dog body language and give R the time and space she wants to get comfortable and assume her goofy loyal dog role. Once R is comfortable, she is a very sweet and playful girl. A consistent routine and fun, enriching activities will help R get used to her new home and feel like part of her family! Do you want to bring this goofy looking gal with a royal name into your heart and home? She would like that. If you'd like to meet R, come visit us at the San Diego Campus

At SDHS:
Rhaenyra has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed neutered. She is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
