Rory is a six-year-old sweetheart who’s been through more than his fair share, but somehow still believes in love. After being abandoned and facing an uncertain fate, he was taken in by a kind soul who couldn’t let anything happen to him. Despite everything, Rory has remained gentle, affectionate, and endlessly hopeful for a forever home of his own.
Rory is shy at first—he’s wary of people standing or walking toward him, but if you sit down, he’ll come right over for pets and brushings. Once he trusts you, he’ll melt into your arms and loves to be carried like a baby. He’s incredibly loving with women and tends to be a bit nervous around tall men, suggesting he may have been mistreated in the past.
This handsome boy adores tummy rubs, chin scratches, and long brushing sessions. He’s also quite the conversationalist—he’ll “talk” to you with his funny mix of meows and growly chatter, especially after a weekend alone.
Rory deserves a quiet, patient home—perhaps with a single woman or calm retiree—where he can finally feel safe and cherished. After everything he’s endured, he’s just looking for someone to love him back.
Rory is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting him, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.
Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
