Dog Name: Clyde Stilts
Breed: Terrier Mix
Sex: Male
Age: 2-3 years
Weight: 17 pounds
Medical Needs: None
Housebroken: Yes, on a schedule. He will try to mark in a new place, so we recommend using a belly band initially until he settles in.
Crate trained: Yes
Good in the car: Yes, though he will try to drive if you let him.
Good on a leash: Needs work learning to walk straight and not circle around your legs, but he enjoys walks and doesn't pull much.
Energy level: High
Need a fenced in yard: No, but he is very active and will need plenty of exercise daily. If you don't have a fence, you must be committed to daily walks or runs.
Dog Friendly: Yes
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No
Cat Friendly? No
Kid Friendly: Yes
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with?
Any with appropriate supervision, HOWEVER () Clyde will try to herd anyone and anything that is running. If you have small kids who aren't familiar with this, or are uncomfortable with it, then Clyde is not going to be a good fit.
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?
Clyde is a friendly and outgoing little fellow. He is very active, curious, and playful.
He will need an active family that will ensure he gets the exercise he needs for both his body and mind.
While he is considered "high energy" that doesn't mean he's bouncing off the walls all the time. He is good at settling down at the end of the day and happy to lounge in a bed with a chew toy.
He is also good at matching the energy of the other dogs in his foster home. He will rip and race with the active ones and calmly patrol the yard with the older/calmer ones.
As previously mentioned, Clyde has some strong herding instincts. He will try to herd anything that's running - kids, cats, dogs, etc. This means that he will nip at their feet, ankles and legs. This behavior is easily correct on leash, but not so much when he is off leash and really excited. We recommend any adopter research this behavior and the tools available to correct/redirect it.
