I’m a 2-year-old Shiba Inu, and if you ask me, I’m a certified Good Boy — I even have the diploma to prove it! I’m proud of who I am: smart, curious, spirited, and always ready to learn something new.
I’ve spent time in a foster home recently, and we’re learning even more about what helps me thrive. I love mental stimulation and being part of whatever’s going on. But when I get bored or left alone without enough to do, I may entertain myself by chewing things, exploring garbage, or finding other “creative” outlets. I’ve done fine alone for a couple hours when the house is picked up and there’s a little background noise, but I’ll need a family that’s home often and committed to keeping my mind active — even when they’re not in the room.
Because I’m a Shiba through and through, once I’m comfortable in a home, I can be protective of things I find valuable (like food or treats). For that reason, I’ll do best as the only pet in an adult-only home where I don’t feel the need to guard anything. No cats for me, either — I grew up with them but ultimately couldn’t live safely with them.
What I do excel with is consistency, structure, and routine. I’m independent but loyal, occasionally cheeky but incredibly bright. With clear expectations and lots of enrichment, I shine. I’m also house-trained, love being involved, and am known to be an excellent bed-snuggler.
If you’re looking for a smart, devoted, slightly mischievous companion who will be your shadow and your project all in one, I might just be your guy. ❤️
🎓 Come meet me and see why I’m a certified Good Boy! If you are interested in learning more or would like to set up a meet-and-greet please fill out an adoption application on our website: www.hsbcpets.com/adopt

More about this shelter
The Humane Society of Barron County is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter serving Barron County and surrounding areas.
Established in 1978 by a small but dedicated group of core volunteers, the HSBC started out with these volunteers taking animals into their own homes and advertising the need for forever homes for these animals. Over the years, since this humble beginning the HSBC has grown into the organization that it is today. From the homes of volunteers, relying on fundraising and the generous donations of our community, we have grown into and remain in our home on Guy Avenue in Barron.
HSBC is operated by a small staff and relies heavily on volunteers, as well as funds from donations, adoptions, memberships and fundraisers to keep our doors open for the animals needing our assistance.
We sincerely thank you for making this possible.
