Ever spent an extended period of time in a foster home. This is what they had to say.
“Ever has been such a fun dog to have in our home. She is very friendly with other dogs — we’ve had her around our dachshund, our extended family’s dogs, and dogs at the dog park, and she’s done great with all of them. She loves to run and play, and even our grumpy old man dachshund got along with her.
She’s also been good with our cat. The cat didn’t like her much, but Ever kept trying to make friends — wagging her tail and standing nearby. Even when the cat scratched her nose, she didn’t try to chase or react negatively.
Ever has spent time with our grandkids ages 1, 6, 15, and 17. She absolutely loved the baby and wanted to give lots of kisses, but she’s still young and enthusiastic and could accidentally knock a little one down.
She has nice food manners. She enjoys her meals, is interested in what people are eating, but never jumped up or tried to steal food. She also didn’t bother our other dog’s food.
She loves playing tug-of-war, squeaky toys, and tennis balls. She’ll chase the ball and bring it back — we just need to work a little on “drop it,” and she’ll be a great retriever.
Ever is a young, active dog and really needs daily exercise to be her best self. When she gets time to run at the dog park, play in a fenced yard, or go on a long walk, her behavior improves a lot. She knows ‘sit’ and does great waiting for her leash, but she’ll need continued training with recall, leash manners, and working through some puppy habits like jumping and occasional hand gnawing. Overall, she’s a sweet, loving girl who will thrive in an active home willing to keep working with her.”
