Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Serenity is a 15-month-old, playful, chatty girl looking for her forever family.
This pretty girl loves to play! She adores toys of all kinds—ball towers, catnip mice, anything that moves—but the toys that involve her humans are her absolute favorites. A cat dancer or wand toy under a rug will have her pouncing with joy, and she’ll happily engage in several active play sessions a day. A home that enjoys interactive playtime will be a perfect match for her.
Serenity is at the top of the cute scale with her fluffy tail, fluffy ears, and fluffy paws. Her cheerful chirps brighten even the gloomiest day, and she’s a vocal kitty who will let you know when she’s ready for breakfast or when it’s time for more play.
Serenity has been through some challenging experiences, and she needs time and patience to build trust with new humans and new environments. She is highly food-motivated, which makes bonding easier—treats are the way to her heart! She prefers not to be brushed and is still learning to feel safe with gentle pets, so her forever family should be prepared to let her set the pace and celebrate each small step forward. A person who is home often or can offer her multiple small meals and consistent positive interaction throughout the day would be ideal.
This pretty lady previously lived in an outdoor colony and greets other cats with friendly meows. She would likely enjoy a feline companion after slow introductions. Her daughter Racket, also at Pet Haven, could be a wonderful match.
Once Serenity settles in, her affectionate side begins to peek through in subtle ways—relaxing nearby, accepting occasional chin scratches while resting, and showing trust through her presence. She may always be cautious with strangers, so a calm, predictable home will help her thrive.
Serenity is trained to go into a carrier for treats and has even learned a nose-boop trick for the reward of a crunchy snack. She’s ready to show off all of her unique, lovely qualities to the family who will appreciate her gentle, blossoming spirit.
There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimates.
Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

How We Help

Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
