My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Moonlight (black) and Sonata (white + gray patches) are a perfectly harmonious pair of kittens! They were both rescued alone in different boroughs but quickly found each other and bonded at the Brooklyn Cat Cafe.

Moonlight is around 2 weeks older than Sonata, and he was a spicy kitten until he discovered the magic of being pet by humans! He is still getting used to our “human world,” so he can be a bit of a scaredy-cat. However, once he finds his rhythm, there’s nothing that stops him from enjoying a good cuddle sesh! He is a very sweet adoptive brother to Sonata, always playing on his terms to not overpower him. He’s got amazing hunting skills during playtime as well! Even though he’s shy, he is a curious and playful little guy at heart.

Sonata is the DIVA of this duo! He will always let you know where you stand with him. If he’s hungry, he’ll meow for food. If he’s bored, he’ll meow for playtime. If he’s meowing and you don’t know why? He most likely wants some pets! He’s a very charming and playful little guy. He will only want to be held on his terms, but that’s totally okay because once he wants attention, it’s a full cuddle session!

Now inseparable, these two best friends cuddle and play their days away at their foster home!

Please note they are too young to be neutered, we will work with an adopter to schedule this once the time comes.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
