My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 7
Sex: Male
Size: Large
Good With Dogs: No (except with Harley)
Good With Cats: No
Good With Children: Yes

Joker and Harley are best of friends. Although not from the same litter, both dogs share the same birthday. Joker and Harley have spent all of their 6 years together, enjoying the world and meeting new people. They are pure bred German Shepherds. Joker has the unique liver/tan color coat and Harley has a more classic black and tan coat. These two pals love to meet new people. They have been socialized with people and children all their lives. Joker and Harley also lived with an older Siberian Husky. However, these days Joker prefers to hang with Harley without any other dogs around.

When Joker and Harley come out and meet new people, they are super-excited. They start off with a burst of energy and then eventually just hang out. Joker and Harley would do great in a family setting and preferably, but not required, a fenced in yard or at least an area where they can run around.

These two besties are located in Morris County. The are currently part of our owner referral program, and are eligible for our foster to adopt program. Once you meet them, you will fall in love and enjoy their enthusiasm and playfulness.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee is:

Ages under 3 years old: $450

Ages 3 to 8: $250

Ages 8 and older $150 (or waived)

For dogs older than 10 or with medical issues we will waive the adoption fee. This is done on a case by case situation.

We do not adopt puppies. If you are interested in adopting a dog under 4 years old there are a number of respectable German Shepherd Rescues in the New Jersey metropolitan area that can accommodate you, including Shepherd's Hope Rescue and Garden State German Shepherd Rescue.

More about this rescue

Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary specializes in helping adult and senior German Shepherds and mixes find their forever home. Sadly, many older dogs are dumped in shelters and most often are the first to be euthanized to create room for younger, supposedly more adoptable dogs.

Our mission is to find loving homes who realize the special nature, love and enjoyment these dogs can bring to a household.

We work with owners who because of circumstances beyond their control need to find a home for their dog. We also work with many shelters and rescue organizations in the Northeast.
