My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Night" in Latin is Noxis thats me! Nox for short -- black like the night sky, except for a white spot on my chest. I was adopted as a kitten and so happy until the human babies came along. Lets just say this 8-year-old boy does not care for little kids. I tolerated the first baby when I was four. But when the second came along a few months ago, it was just too much for me and I showed that I was unhappy. However, I have been the perfect gentleman cat in my foster home which has no children! My foster mom said I am a lively, intelligent, companionable kitty!
This is what I hope to find in my new home. First, I love attention, petting and talking with you. If I feel you are ignoring me I will either meow, nudge, or softly tap you with my paw. Windows with a view are an absolute must for my sunbathing and bird watching. While I am not crazy about being picked up and carried around, I love to take naps on your lap. My mom said to warn you that I like to tear and chew on tape, especially shipping tape when attached to a box. So, youll have to keep those out of my reach, or I will swallow the tape! Other than sticky tape, my favorite toys include feathers on a wand, anything with catnip in it, and my treat maze. Well, how about it? Come by so I can try out your lap for napping!

More about this shelter

As many of you may already know, we have a mission: To enhance the lives of Montgomery County Maryland residents and animals through programs directed at education, adoption, animal shelter, and low cost spay/neuter. The AWLMC is committed to ending the euthanasia of adoptable animals in Montgomery County, Maryland. With this in mind, we are partnering with the county shelter to help save the most at-risk animals. Currently, we are only working with cats.

In order to save as many cats as possible, we have opened a no-kill shelter in Gaithersburg. We need your help in the form of direct financial donations and by volunteering your time. Our organization is strong and full of highly dedicated volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, professions and abilities. We are working together to save the lives of cats and kittens, to find them loving, forever homes and to have them spay/neutered. All of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

We are the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.
