Just a few more words to describe little Pepita. This barely 4 lb. ball of rage turns into absolute mush once she knows and trusts you. Poor Pepita was rightfully terrified after leaving the shelter. She had to be wrapped up in a blanket to even get a collar on. Even if you reached towards her, she would scream. After decompressing for a few days and giving her lots of space, she started coming out of her shell a little more every day. Soon, she would only flinch a little when you would reach for her, then she would let me pick her up. For a few days I could only pick her up and carry her, not sit down, or she would run off. Finally, we became friends and she became my 4th little shadow. We did have a little regression after her first bath and trying to get a shirt on her. She was upset with me for a few days, but came back around. She now happily prances to me when I call for her. Mushes herself into my neck and gives me lots of kisses. She loves meal time and laying outside in the sun. I don't know what happened to Pepita in the past, but I hope every day she keeps forgetting those things and starts remembering that her life will only be a full belly, soft beds, and lots of love from here on out. Pepita gets along fine with her foster sisters and cat brothers. She doesn't like if the dogs get too close to her personal space, but will share a bed no problem. She is house trained and potty pad trained. She is a little nervous in the car, but does ok. We haven't really tried walking on a leash yet, but she does love to run around the yard. Her deformed front leg doesn't slow her down! She will run, jump, and prance around with no problem. Pepita is missing most of her bottom jaw, but that doesn't slow her down when it comes to meal time! She will quickly devour her soft food and tiny kibble, then jump up and lick the cat's bowl clean! Pepita is not currently on any meds. She will likely need a dental for a few yucky molars she still has and potentially a mass removed from her rear leg. Despite her tiny stature, Pepita is an excellent guard dog and will bark any time someone new comes in the house. Once she realizes they are friends, she warms up quickly. If you've got a little room and a little patience for her big personality, then Pepita would love to be your new bestie!Fill out an adoption application directly on our website at www.lionelslegacy.org
