If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
I adopted Skunk about 1.5 years ago, from the Humane Society in Oklahoma City. His profile said he was approximately 12 years old at the time.
When I picked him up, he was hiding in his room. Upon arrival at my home (with one other female cat) I kept him separated in my guest room. Each day I went in to try to pet him and give him attention, but he never received it well. Once I allowed him to have free range of my home, he continued to hide under the bed, only coming out at night to use the litter box and eat.
My female cat was not and still is not fond of him. Since my husband and I moved to Virginia we put her in our bedroom at night to allow Skunk to come out and be a cat. We believe he will do best as the only animal in the home, with someone who is quieter. He will most likely start to come out during the day and be more social!
