My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi!  My name is Mindy and I am looking for a forever home.  Me and my friend Missy were picked up by Animal Control and taken to a super scary place called a shelter where, after our hold times were up and no one came looking for either one of us, we were put on something bad called 'the list".  Fortunately for us, a worker at the shelter saw what good girls we were and contacted a small local rescue to see if they could take us in, then a volunteer with that rescue contacted BCAA to see if they could help us and they said yes!  We both appear to be bassett hounds, both of us are about a year old, and I am the smaller one at just under 25lbs.  I was just a little shy when I first came into foster but everyone is so nice to me and I get really good treats and lots of loving which is one of my most favorite things.  I have gotten along with the other dogs I have met and like to play; so far I haven't paid much attention at all to the cats I've met.  I go right into my crate when asked and I have done really well in one without any accidents, barking or tearing up of any bedding.  I enjoy my food and treats which I take gently.  I'm good on leash and love going for walks and exploring.  Due to my breed mix (us hounds love to follow our noses and tend to wander), if I'm not in a fenced area I will need to be on leash.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.

Submit Application

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.

More about this rescue

We are the Burlington County Animal Alliance (BCAA)located in Central New Jersey. We are a non-profit organization 501(3)(c), all volunteer rescue that saves animals from our local shelter and surrounding areas of New Jersey that are in danger of being euthanized. We take them into our program, get them the necessary medical care they need and adopt them back out to loving forever homes. We have 60 volunteers, many that open their homes to foster the homeless animals, we do fundraisers to raise money so we can continue to save the dogs and cats in need. We run strictly on donations from our adoptions and people who support our work.BCAA adopts to families in New Jersey, parts of Southeastern Pennsylvania and parts of New York.
