What is Rehome?
If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Willa is a sweet, smart dog. Good on a leash and well-behaved in the house. No chewing or destructive behaviors. Good with cats, older kids. She likes her beanbag chair, treats, and her daily walk. She goes to doggy daycare once a week where she does well. She's good in the car.
However, she is protective with the house and growls at anyone coming in. She is skittish and fearful of new people. She doesn't like the vet to touch her. She needs more training and desensitization than I can give her given my long days and schedule. She has never bitten anyone, but I am concerned that she could out of fear. Strangely, she does great at doggie daycare. I can't take her hiking as she growls at people on the trail. She does warm up to guests in the house over time.
I am hoping there is someone with experience working with these behaviors so she can live a long and happy life. She is not on medication. This may be a long shot, but I am hopeful. I just can't meet her needs anymore. Fee neg.
