My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Long legs, ears that go on for days and a heart that is looking for the extra piece to make it whole...Crystal is a beauty who is ISO her extra special home! This adult rat terrier mix (we're
thinking maybe some Whippet for the long legs and larger size) weighs about 24 lbs now on the lean side. She arrived with a sister who has been a bit of a security blanket though she has been loving all of the human attention and has shown she would settle well with furever humans and become a quick shadow. Crystal is easily intimidated by other dogs and would settle best as an only furkid or with another dog who would be comfortable with respecting her space and bubble. She is sure to prove smart and loyal and be a companion like no other.
*Sleepover feedback: "She did very well on a leash. Crystal also did very well riding in the car. She quickly learned to get in and out by herself.
She seemed to know the appropriate places to potty and had no accidents in the house or crate She also enjoyed the company and laps of both men and women".

Weekend Host Feedback: "Crystal was great with all people! Crystal was good on her leash but the cold seemed to impact her. Crystal road very very well in the car! First night, she strugggled to get comfy in her crate but the second night she was great! She is a cuddle bug. Any chance she got to get cozy on the couch she took it. She is quiet and calm and loves to sleep and be in the presence of her people. She is very friendly but timid. She really likes to be around her people where she seems most comfy. We cuddled and laid on the couch the whole weekend and you could tell she felt safe in her spot on the couch. Crystal will make a great fit for a calm and cozy loving environment."

Additional adoption info

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccines, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please complete an Adoption Application at our website: savinggracenc.org

Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.

More about this rescue

Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.

We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
