My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Zephyr and his littermates were found as strays in Opelika, Alabama. When they arrived at the local shelter, they were very sick puppies—but thankfully, they were in the right place at the right time. The shelter team provided the lifesaving medical care they needed, and because of that, Zephyr is now fully recovered, thriving, and ready for his forever home!

While he may look completely different from Zoe and Zella, he’s built just like his sisters and is clearly part of the same adorable family!  Zephyr also sports those irresistible “satellite ears” of a terrier mix — a truly one-of-a-kind look that only makes him more charming :-).

Zephyr has two speeds: snuggle bug and mini velociraptor. This sweet, moderate-energy boy is the perfect mix of affectionate cuddle bug and playful whirlwind. He is a curious, slightly rambunctious puppy who loves exploring the world one stick at a time—if there’s a branch on a walk, he’ll find it! He’s learning all about toys and is discovering just how fun they can be. He’s also a bit of a teaser with the resident cats and thinks his dog buddy Roman should always be ready for playtime (even when Roman disagrees).

Mealtime is a big event for Zephyr; he uses a a slow feeder and is working on understanding that there will always be enough. He may gobble now, but he’s learning good habits quickly.

With his goofy charm, big heart, and lovable energy, Zephyr will thrive with a family that enjoys snuggles, playtime, and helping a young pup continue to grow into his best self.

Zephyr is current on vaccinations and flea/tick/heartworm prevention.  He is also neutered and microchipped.  His adoption fee is $450.

Additional adoption info

Thank you so much for being interested in adopting a puppy, dog, cat or kitten from Worthy Tails Rescue.

Please click on the link below to access the online application. You will need to register in order to complete it. The registration is just an email and password so that you can access the information. You are under absolutely NO obligation to adopt by registering; it is simply for the website’s records. After the application is completed and submitted, your application will be reviewed. Upon submission, please inform your veterinarian and references that we will be contacting them. We will then be in touch with you after the review process is completed. Please be patient with us as all of our volunteers are very busy with many things, including full time jobs, caring for their own families, pets and caring for our foster pets. In addition, we need to be able to reach your references, which can take some time. Therefore, please allow at least a week before expecting to hear something.

More about this rescue

Worthy Tails is a non profit, all-volunteer animal foster and adoption organization. Our mission is to help animals that did not ask to be born, and are often subjected to inhumane conditions and treatment, to find loving homes. The members of our organization believe that any animal, no matter how large or small, young or old, beautiful or "only a face a mother can love" can offer unconditional love and companionship to the right person, couple, or family.
Worthy Tails is not an animal shelter. All animals live in our approved foster homes until permanent, indoor homes can be found.
