Meet Rei — but my foster calls me Birdie!
Birdie is a 11-week-old Shepherd mix (likely with some Dutch Shepherd). She may be tiny, but her personality is HUGE!
This sweet girl loves human touch and lights up around both adults and kids. She tilts her head like she understands every word you say, learns quickly, and gets so excited when she’s told “good girl!” Birdie walks nicely on a leash, but also stays right by your side without one.
In her foster home, she’s made herself right at home with a 105 lb Akita, bravely playing like she’s the boss (think mouse vs. moose ). She enjoys all the toys, especially chasing balls, and politely ignores the grumpy resident cat.
Birdie shares food, toys, water, and even her foster mom without issues. She’s a little grazer and eats throughout the day instead of overdoing it. She’s almost fully potty trained and just mastered the doggy door all on her own!
Crates, however… not her thing (unless the door stays open). Close it, and she lets out a sound louder than a school fire alarm! With patience and time, she can learn, but for now she prefers sleeping on her orthopedic bed with her blanket and teddy bear.
Birdie is smart, loving, playful, and so eager to learn. She’ll thrive in a gentle, patient home with plenty of love — and she’d fit beautifully into a family with kids and other pets.
