My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VT

Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes
Good with kids: Yes, dog-savvy kids
Crate trained: Yes
House trained: Yes

Meet Yumi Okada, a sweet and gentle mama who raised her pups and is now ready to enjoy her next chapter! She’s a mid-energy girl who likes to play with her toys and nap in the sun. Yumi is looking for a home where she can soak up her family’s love.

Yumi is a lover, not a fighter. She is cautious when she first meets people, but quickly warms up and welcomes affection. She is great with other dogs after a slow intro, as high energy dogs make her a little nervous at first. She’s done great with all of the kids she’s met, but as she works on her manners, she will do best with dog-savvy kids. She does well with the cat in her foster home and mostly ignores them throughout the day. This cuddle bug is happiest when someone is petting her, and with her adorable freckles and affectionate personality it’s hard to resist snuggling her.

This smart girl is fully crate and house trained and will alert that she needs to go out by going to the door. She is working on her leash manners and is excited to continue to hone her skills on neighborhood walks with her new family.

This hidden gem has so much love to give. Will you be the lucky recipient of it?

More about this rescue

Our mission at Last Hope K9 Rescue is to save every possible dog we can from being euthanized within high-volume kill shelters throughout the U.S.

As the literal “last hope” of nearly every animal we serve, we work tirelessly to place each one within a stable, loving environment that can act as either their forever home, or the gateway to their forever home. We also strive to ensure that all of our adoptions and foster placements are the optimal fit for everyone involved, including our dogs. This leads to our second goal: enriching human lives through canine companionship. To us, you can’t have one without the other.

Lastly, we promote animal welfare by lobbying important initiatives that both protect and give voice to the voiceless. By fostering an environment of collaboration with other organizations that share our goals, and working together instead of in competition, we find that we accomplish more.
