✨ Meet Sassafras – Tiny, Saucy, and Absolutely Certain She Runs This Household ✨
Age: 7 years Breed: Shih Tzu Special Skills: Toy hoarding, feline diplomacy, selective listening, supervising humans
If you’ve dreamed of a low-energy companion with the spirit of a retired librarian and the comedic timing of a seasoned sitcom character, Sassafras is ready to step into that role. She’s survived a rough past, polished her crown, and now reigns proudly from the couch.
🌼 The Good (And There’s Even More of It Now!)
Sassafras is basically a houseplant with opinions and better hair. One short daily walk and she’s content. She strolls politely on leash, tolerates spa-day foot fussing, and submits to wardrobe changes with the quiet resignation of a dog who has accepted she is, in fact, a fashion icon.
Her biggest brag? She LOVES cats. Not “tolerates,” not “ignores”—she genuinely loves them. She’s gentle, respectful, and blissfully drama-free around feline friends. She would happily be the tiny dog in a cat household.
She’s also doing much better with her house training and no longer requires constant diapers. Gold-star effort, Sassafras. ⭐
She enjoys dogs in small, polite doses but would prefer they keep the noise level down. (She considers herself the HOA president of “Indoor Voices.”)
She finds toys, hoards toys, plays with toys—basically entertains herself like a tiny gremlin living her best life.
🌥 The Quirky (Aka: Her Charm)
Sassafras is very smart. But she uses her intelligence like Wi-Fi in a basement—sparingly and only when it suits her.
She still occasionally “mothers” dogs who, in her opinion, are behaving incorrectly. It’s funny. It’s bossy. It’s very on-brand for her.
🌦️ The Challenges (Or: Sassafras Features 2.0)
Great news: Her separation anxiety has improved significantly. She still prefers her people close by, but she no longer reenacts The Shining at closed doors and is learning to be calm when left alone for reasonable periods.
Her house training has also made real progress. She may still need a diaper at night or during longer stretches without supervision, but the constant potty chaos is behind her.
She does drink and pee more than your average dog—likely a quirk of her system rather than a medical issue—but she’s manageable, predictable, and much tidier than before.
💛 Who Should Adopt Sassafras?
Someone who wants:
A quiet, low-energy, hilarious companion
A dog who is 100% cat-friendly
A tiny sweetheart wrapped in a layer of stubbornness
A home supervisor with strong opinions about your timing, tone, and snack distribution
She would thrive in a calm home—with cats, with polite dogs, or as the lone queen bee.
🌸 Ready to Adopt a Spicy, Improved, Cat-Approved Companion?
Sassafras is not perfect—but she is sweet, silly, loyal, and absolutely unforgettable. If you want a dog who will make you laugh daily, warm your feet, and expertly judge your snack choices… she’s your girl.
Apply for Sassafras at www.pawpatroldayton.com/adopt . Her adoption fee is $285. She’s spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.
