Sugarplum is a 5-year-old, 14-pound bundle of quiet sweetness who came from a hoarding case and is now learning what real love, safety, and comfort feel like. True to her name, she’s equal parts soft, sweet, and impossible not to adore — she just needs a little time to trust that the world is finally on her side.
At first meet, she’s gentle, cautious, and prefers observing from a safe spot… but give her some patience, kind words, and a peaceful environment, and you’ll watch her bloom into the affectionate little lovebug she was always meant to be. Once you’re “in” with Sugarplum, you’re in. She’ll nuzzle close, follow you with those big soft eyes, and show you a level of loyalty that’ll warm you from the inside out.
She’s great with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a confident, friendly four-legged sibling to help show her the ropes. In fact, she’ll take cues from another dog faster than you can say “Who’s a good girl?” (Spoiler: it’s her.)

Hay Dude Equine Rescue, in Boerne, TX, does not have a shelter - ALL of our dogs, are raised in foster homes in the San Antonio area. Each pup comes spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations that are appropriate for their age, microchipped, heartworm tested and on current on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative.
Hay Dude Equine Rescue, in Boerne, TX, does not have a shelter - ALL of our dogs, are raised in foster homes in the San Antonio area. (1) promote and educate the public on horse slaughter and equine abuse
(2) Rescue, retrain and rehome slaughter bound, abused, or neglected horses
(3) educate the public on proper horse care and husbandry
(4) offer assistance to equine owners in times of natural or personal disaster
(5) rehabilitate neglected and abused equines
(6) accept donations of rehomeable equines for adoption and placement
(7) adopt equines into thoroughly vetted homes
