My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Winter is a beautiful white and tabby 5-month-old kitten with beautiful eyes lined with black, and she has the loudest purr you’ve ever heard. She’s a cautious gal – a little cool like her name, you might say – but part of that is because she has a very outgoing brother, Summer, who wants to be the star of the show, and part of it is because she was rescued when she was 3 months old so she is still adjusting to indoor life with humans. Winter is gaining confidence and trust daily, learning this from both her brother and her foster’s resident cat, who both cats adore.

Winter and Summer and their two brothers were rescued from a construction site in mid-September. These kittens lucked out when the foreman of the project informed us about them and their mom, who was TNRd (trap, neuter, return), and let us rescue the kittens. Winter is more of a scaredy cat – never aggressive. She enjoys playing with her mousy wand toy and her brother, Summer, who she must be adopted with. These bonded siblings groom each other, nap together, and play together.

Summer is the easy, outgoing, friendly cat, but Winter will make you work for it a bit. That effort though, will be so worthwhile as you’ll hear her mighty purr and you’ll see her blossom in front of your eyes! Winter is spayed, FeLV and FIV negative, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines. She and her brother are so ready to find their forever home!

Additional adoption info

Our cats are almost all in foster homes. Upon approval of your application (including reference check), we will connect you with the foster parent(s) so that you can meet the kitty you're interested in. If it's a good fit, we'll do a home check for safety issues, and then process the paperwork so that you can officially adopt your new family member!

More about this rescue

We are a network of rescuers in Central Brooklyn (primarily in Bed Stuy, Ocean Hill, and Crown Heights) who help each other out. We do both TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) as well as the rescue and adoption of friendly cats and kittens that we find on the streets. We don't have a physical facility, so our cats are usually in foster homes, or staying with us in our own homes. Our goal is to find loving, permanent homes for all the cats we take off the street, and to make better lives for the ones we return there.
