My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet quirky little Coal! He is a 13.9lb black domestic shorthair who is just over 1 year old. Coal is chill, affectionate, silly, reserved, playful, and sweet. He is a purr-machine who will bonk his head up into your hand for scritches and pets. While his brother Marble will climb entirely into peoples’ laps, Coal is slightly more reserved with his cuddles, choosing to only lay the front half of his body in our laps. Coal was found last year with his 5 littermates at just 1 week old, stashed away in an attic soffit by their first-time mama cat. After not being able to nurse from mama for 3 days, it is a miracle that Coal and his siblings—most with eyes and ears still closed—were found alive and healthy. Coal and his siblings were all treated for worms right away, and they all grew up to be happy healthy cats. Coal is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all his vaccines. Coal is not very high-energy, but he still adores playtime. He loves when people drag string and ribbons around for him to chase, he wrestles and plays chase with his brother Marble, and he likes to play with poof balls by himself. One of his cutest behaviors is how he acts when he wants scritches: he will gently put his front paws on you to get your attention (he is always mindful about his claws and keeps them away), and if you’re bent down cleaning the floor… he might just hop up onto your back to say hello! Coal leaves it up to his brother Marble to be curious about everything; Coal is more reserved and timid about new things and places, but once he is used to something (he is quicker to become acclimated with Marble nearby to help him check things out), he opens up, letting his silliness out and seeking cuddles and affection. Coal has gotten along splendidly with children and strangers, and lives in his foster home with 2 medium dogs whom he has grown to tolerate very well. Coal and his brother Marble are the only remaining 2 of their litter of 6 who have yet to find a forever home. These sweet boys have become quite bonded, so they would love to be adopted together so that their fun personalities and loving qualities truly shine. Coal loves tube treats and has learned the “sit” command to receive them; he also does great for nail trimmings if he’s distracted with a tube treat as well. Coal is an indoor-only cat who is completely litterbox trained and has never had an accident. Coal has always been around other cats (his mother and siblings), so his ideal home would be inside with his brother Marble. This gentle and sweet bat-faced boy is so eager for love and attention, and his affectionate personality continues to reveal itself more and more each day.
