Calista is a beautiful calico mama born in 2023 who has finished raising her five kittens. After surviving on the streets, Calista has blossomed into an affectionate and curious kitty.
Calista is shy when meeting new people, but she warms up quickly — and once she trusts you, she becomes talkative and eager for pets. Calista loves exploring her surroundings. She enjoys elevated spots like cat trees and windows. She has adorable bursts of playfulness and never turns down a treat. She’s also fully litter box trained.
Calista is an excellent work-from-home buddy. She’s respectful of your space and loves simply being in the same room, keeping you company while you work.
She does best in a calm household and gets along with laid-back cats. She may hiss to set boundaries but is never aggressive. Dogs are a bit scary for her, but she's a brave girl and could likely adjust to living with a calm, cat-friendly dog. Because she gets lonely when left alone for long periods, she would thrive in a home with another mellow cat — or with one of her kittens. We only adopt to people in the St. Louis METRO area. More about this rescue
St. Louis Pet Rescue is a non-profit rescue group focusing on saving pets from local animal control facilities and other neglect situations.
We do not have a facility. All of the pets we rescue are in loving foster homes. Foster homes provide love, care training, and, if needed, rehabilitation to the pets. This also allows the pet to be more adjusted when they enter their forever home since they are used to a home environment (versus a kennel at the pound).
