What Makes Me So Special
Mimi Hana, who’s name in Chinese means Beautiful flower. Name intended to inspire a new beginning in a home that will give her the love and patience to let her bloom at her own pace. Her behavior tells us she has never known comfort, love or affection. We don’t know much about her life before BRET, but her foster and Veterinarian suspect she had been a Puppy Mill dog and likely confined in a crate for the majority of her young life. She has 2 rough/bald areas on her rear, thought to have been from rubbing against the back of a small cage. Her hair is slowly growing back, she is a beautiful young lady and with the right fit, will make a wonderful companion. She was terrified when first arriving at her foster family’s home, but has made some good progress in the few months she’s been living in a real home. Where she was terrified of being outside, she now runs around playfully following the other dogs. Where she was cautious of taking a treat handed to her, she eagerly awaits the chewy morsel. She gets along well with male and female dogs in the home, but favors the boys and would benefit from another dog companion. She’s doing well with waiting to go outside to do her business, but still needs continual training. She’s still very fearful of people, slow movements are best and soft calm voices with praise are needed. She’s still learning that a lap is a nice place to be and will need someone who can give her a regular/balanced schedule. Mimi Hana would do best in a calm/quiet household environment. She still prefers to sleep in a roomie crate at night, in a soft bed with a blanket. Her foster mom says they’d like her to lead a crate/cage free life, but at this time it is necessary and helps Mimi Hana feel safe and secure.
