I`m a lovely but sensitive boy. I don`t mind meeting new people (I like them even more when they have a tasty treat for me!) but I don`t enjoy them petting me until we are a bit more familiar with each other. Once I warm up to you, you will see how much I love pets and lean in for scratches. I do have a happy, stompy dance when you scratch my bum. I am pretty good at fetch and love to collect stuffy toys in a pile. I am the smartest boy and respond impressively quick to positive training. I would love to join a home with someone who has an interest in working with me to build my confidence. My new family should know that I have allergies and am on medication which helps stop my skin from being itchy and uncomfortable.
MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES… CHILDREN: I am looking for an adult-only home. OTHER DOGS: Yes, I would do well with another dog who likes to run and chase. CATS: Potentially, with a cat confident around dogs. FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: I would do best with someone who has dog experience. FENCED-IN YARD: Not necessarily. HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: No apartment buildings or environments with tight hallways as I don`t always love when strangers randomly come into my bubble. SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.
SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME… ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium. HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.

More about this shelter
For 125 years, the Guelph Humane Society has been dedicated to protecting and caring for the many animals with whom we share our community and our lives, and to fostering the important bonds with animals that enrich us as individuals, families and communities. Founded in 1893, the Guelph Humane Society provides care and shelter for more than 3,000 homeless, stray, injured, and abused animals each year throughout Guelph and Wellington County.
Our programs are delivered by an enthusiastic team of staff with many years of experience in animal care and welfare. In addition to paid staff, we are lucky to have over 400 active volunteers who provide thousands of hours of service each year and generously share their skills and ideas.
The Guelph Humane Society has a strong working relationship with local, provincial, and national animal welfare organizations; local school boards; the City of Guelph; Township of Centre Wellington; Township of Guelph-Eramosa; local veterinarians; the Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre at the University of Guelph; and Guelph Police Services and the Provincial Crown Attorney’s Office. We are an affiliate society of the Ontario SPCA, and proud member of the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS).
Our organization is guided by a Board of Directors made up of volunteers with a wide range of skills and business experience. The Board also convenes several ad hoc committees, which work to address specific issues. Day-to-day operations of the shelter are managed by the Executive Director and senior staff with the Board’s general guidance.
We are a registered charitable, non-profit organization that does not receive government funding. As such, we depend on your donations and private funding to support our important work. The Guelph Humane Society charitable registration number is 119236305RR0001.
