My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sunshine lives up to her name—she’s a sweet, affectionate girl with a playful spirit and a gentle, slightly shy side. She can be a bit of a scaredy cat at first, but once she feels safe, her loving personality shines through. After just a few days out of the kennel, Sunshine has already begun to settle in, showing how much she benefits from a calm, stable environment.

Sunshine is a high-energy dog who enjoys staying active. She does best with at least two walks a day along with backyard playtime to burn off energy and satisfy her curiosity. She’s smart and eager to learn, especially when treats are involved, and is currently working on cues like sit and stay. Positive reinforcement—praise, affection, and gentle guidance—has been especially effective for her.

Affection is Sunshine’s love language. She always wants to be near her person, giving and receiving pets, and she has no known sensitivities to handling. Her paws were sore when she first arrived, but that has since resolved, and she’s comfortable being touched all over—especially when it comes to ear scratches, which are her absolute favorite.

Sunshine has been calm and friendly around the people she’s encountered so far and hasn’t shown any concerning reactions. She’s curious about other animals, gently sniffing a neighbor’s dog and observing nearby chickens without chasing or showing aggression. She has not displayed any possessiveness over food or toys.
Like many young or energetic dogs, Sunshine is still working on her manners. She sometimes jumps when excited and is learning leash skills, as she can pull on walks. She also has a playful habit of trying to steal items like shoes or glasses, but she’s beginning to understand what belongs to her and what doesn’t with consistent redirection.

With continued structure, patience, and plenty of love, Sunshine has all the makings of a wonderful companion. She’s curious, intelligent, and deeply affectionate—and with more time outside the kennel in a stable home, she’s sure to keep blossoming into an amazing dog.
