Space Jam ACCT-A-237623 is a 2-year-old male who was brought in by police as a stray on 11/19. Police noted he was “friendly.” Space Jams received surgery for a foreign object in his stomach which ended up being whole potatoes! This adorable, friendly boy is now looking for a forever home! He loves to cuddle up and gently lay his head on your lap.

BEHAVIORAL:
Per Volunteer 11/23/25: When I went to leash space jam, he dodged the leash slightly, but I had accidentally shocked him when I put my hand forward, so I think that surprised him. I was able to leash him with a really big loop after dropping a few hot dog treats. On leash he does pull moderately so would recommend a harness however he is incredibly in tune with his handler and frequently checks in. Such a gentle boy, he met multiple new handlers and took pets from all of them Immediately and took treats very gently from them too. Such an affectionate and gentle boy! He loves to be right next to his handler, taking pets and grabbing treats. Tried to chase a bird in the play yard so potentially has a prey drive. Once the bird started flying away, he lost interest. Easily went back into his kennel and allowed unleashing.
Per Staff 11/22/25: Good riding in the car, lays down and relaxes.
Slept in a crate, had a cone on so had to physically place in, as would not eat treats so could not use a food lure. Howled for 5 minutes then slept.
Picked up from pac. Sweet and social with the staff, approaches and sits with ears back soft eyes mouth closed with lip licks, solicit for physical touch.
Per staff on 11/19:
“Space Jam was exceptionally sweet and cooperative throughout his handling. He responded well to a "bear hug" restraint method during his IV catheter placement and seemed familiar with basic commands. He remained calm and allowed the veterinary nurse and veterinarian to complete the full physical exam without showing any signs of fear.
He did not display any fearfulness toward male or female staff, nor did the number of people moving in and out of the exam room appear to overwhelm him. He was also easy to walk while on a leash. Despite feeling ill, he wagged his tail and greeted everyone who entered the room. His overall demeanor was very pleasant.”

ORAL: pink and moist, <2 s. No obvious oral masses/lesions on cursory examination. Minimal dental tartar.
ABDOMEN: Moderately distended abdomen, tense to abdominal palpation
INTEG: Live fleas
UROGENITAL: Bilaterally intact male
RECTAL: NE
ASSESSMENT:
-Vomiting
-Severe gastric distention, concern for possible progression to GDV
-Foreign material in fundus, consideration for perforation

-IH Parvo Snap Test: Negative
-IH CBC/chem/lytes pending
-AFAST: No FF detected
-3V AXR: Boney fragments in stomach, severe gastric distention, gas distended intestines.
Treatments:
-IVC placed
-Placed e-collar on patient to prevent him from removing IVC
-Admin Cerenia 1 mg/kg IV
-Admin Capstar per rectum
-Recommend transfer to PASE for hospitalization + further work up”

- BAR (bright, alert, responsive), friendly”

The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services.
