My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Skye! 🐾

Beautiful Skye is a 2-year-old Pit Bull mix with a heart full of love and a gentle spirit. She came from a tough situation — abandoned in a home with many other dogs — but she’s now learning what it means to feel safe, cared for, and part of a family. 💛

Skye may be a little shy at first, but with patience and kindness, her sweet personality shines through. She gets along well with other dogs and would thrive in a home where she can continue building her confidence.

She’s being fostered in Huntsville, AL through Friends of Rescue and is available for transport to approved adopters.

If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who’s ready for a fresh start, Skye is waiting for you. 🐶✨

Go meet their pets

Our adoptable animals are fostered in loving homes throughout Huntsville, Alabama and the surrounding area. Because we do not operate a physical shelter, meet-and-greets are arranged by appointment only—typically after an adoption application has been submitted and approved.

More about this rescue

Friends of Rescue is headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama with transport locations throughout the Great Lakes and New England. FOR is a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2009.

Our mission is to save adoptable dogs and cats from overcrowded Southern shelters where limited space, minimal funding, and high intake rates often lead to euthanasia.

We are not professional trainers or animal behaviorists—just dedicated individuals working together to give these animals a second chance. Every pet in our program lives in a loving foster home and receives age-appropriate veterinary care while awaiting adoption.

Our ultimate goal is to match each animal with a committed, compassionate individual or family who will provide a FORever home.
