My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Blue arrived:
Blue was brought in by his previous owner on November 15, 2025.

Why Blue is the one for you:
Meet Blue! Blue is an active, adventurous dog who loves getting out and about. As a herding breed, he'll thrive with a family familiar with the needs and quirks of herding dogs. The good news? Much of the training is already done-Blue is both leash-trained and potty-trained. He does well with respectful dogs, though he has no known history with cats. Blue can be a bit protective of spaces he considers important, so his new family should be prepared to help manage this resource-guarding behavior. Because of this, children in the home should be 5 years or older, and they'll need to be present during the meet-and-greet.
Blue's heart is in the right place-he just needs a confident, understanding family to guide him. If you're ready to welcome this bright, energetic boy into your life, bring a leash and collar and take Blue home today!

At SDHS:
Blue has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Blue is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
