What Makes Me So Special
Lincoln, a neutered Frenchton, (2yrs 1 month and 35.4lbs) is playful, energetic, affectionate, outgoing, and quite the character. Lincoln loves to run, go on walks and be chased around the yard by his sister Lily. He also loves tug-of-war with ropes and tug toys. We find Lincoln to be very funny. We always joke that he would be the perfect fraternity mascot. He grunts, snorts, farts, snores and will happily roll onto his back for a belly rub. He has a huge mouth and sometimes his gentle kisses can come with a little extra. He has no fears and loves riding in the car. He has no issue sharing his toys but with Lilys resource guarding he used to going into his crate to enjoy a meal, bone or treat. Lincoln can be an escape artist. He has been known to squeeze himself out of a fenced in backyard to say hello to a neighbor’s dog down the street or just see if his human is up for a game of tag. Due to Lincolns comedic antics, he will need a fenced-in backyard with room to run and play with his sister Lily. One of the things we love that
Lincoln does is that he will nudge your leg gently at times to let his human know he’s looking up at you.
Lincoln (like Lily) doesn’t love to go outside when it’s cold and wet so potty breaks when the weather is such can require a little more encouragement. And while I would love to say he never has an accident in the house that would be untrue. Some days he just can’t be bothered with walking the 5 steps needed to potty outside so if he is having one of those days, he may need a personal escort to potty palace. Lincoln sleeps soundly in his crate all night letting out the occasional loud snore. He also goes in his crate when his humans leave the house just in case, he gets any naughty ideas to burn the house down from his sister Lily. Lincoln like Lily will happily go in his crate to enjoy his favorite bones and treats and will often choose to go in his crate when he is feeling ready for an afternoon snooze. Lincoln and Lily have enjoyed being “siblings,” but they can play quite aggressively with each other at times, so it is important to be tuned into playtime, so it doesn’t get too rough. As a pair they mimic each other’s energy and we have found that they can be overstimulated living in a multi-dog household. This overstimulation can and has caused them to show aggression
towards each other in times of high stress. So, when we know that the agenda for the day is going to include lots of commotion or stress in the home (kids birthday party for example) we have moved their crates to a quiet, calm space and that seems to work well for everyone until the house has settled. It’s important to note that Lincoln has never shown aggression towards a human. Lincoln is wonderful with my kids, smothers them with kisses and allows them to take objects (food, bones, etc..) from him with no issues. Lincoln has lived in a home with children under the age of 10 but I don’t think a forever home with small children would be the best idea. He is all muscle and can be a little overpowering for small humans at times. Lincolns large mouth (despite his best efforts) can sometimes be a bit more than you bargained for, especially for a kid. He really tries to be gentle with his kisses as he is a very loving dog who really enjoys being with his people and when taking a treat from a hand but can be a bit overpowering for a kid at times. I also think that if small animals such as cats, gerbils, birds, etc..... were present in the home they could quickly become one of his new favorite toys. (and you don’t want to be one of Lincolns favorite toys) Lincoln eats Royal Canin Gastrointestinal dry dog food. He also loves scrambled eggs and
fruit and is happy to clean the floor of scraps any day of the week. He does not have any known allergies. Lincoln does need to have his face gently cleaned a couple times a week (especially between his wrinkles), which he doesn’t mind at all. He doesn’t mind a shower. He does not love getting his nails cut so we have typically had that done at our veterinarian. Lincoln is up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on heartworm prevention. We prefer to keep Lincoln and Lily together if possible and as the only dogs in their forever home.
