My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet baby girl Chasee!  She is about 6 months-old and oh so smart.  She is house trained and understands basic commands.  She loves all of the BIG dogs in her foster home.  From day one, she has slept free in the home and for very short periods of time is left inside, uncrated when the foster is out on her property mowing and such.  She is NOT a fan of the crate.  For whatever reason, it has a bad vibe for this baby.  Were it not for 4 very large German Shepherds in the home, the foster would have no problem leaving her out.  However, she has recently been spayed and we don't want her to get hurt while playing with the big dogs, which is her favorite thing.  She does not appear to have been abused but severely neglected. She is a bit underweight but we are working on that. Thankfully, she is young and found her way to some amazing folks who made it a group effort to save her. Her little neck has areas where it appears a collar may have been too tight as the hair is missing.  It is only visibile when you are rubbing her sweet little body.  The primary family who was caring for her had a little boy who named her Chase for the Paw Patrol German Shepherd.  She quickly became Chasee when he was told she was a little girl. She is truly a very happy and well-round puppy.  She would love a home with a playmate.  Her favoritve thing to do is a steal a toy from a retired K-9 and then have him chase her around the house.  She also loves to jump up and put her paws around his neck.  It's the sweetest and funniest thing to watch.

All Lani’s Lucky Shepherds receive an individual examination by a local veterinarian, are current on vaccinations, spay or neutered, microchipped, and tested for heart worms and other intestinal worms and parasites. All incoming dogs receive Drontal Plus de-wormer or its equivalent as an extra precautionary step to go above and beyond to keep our rescued dogs healthy. We feed our rescue dogs high quality dog food and supplements while they live in our foster homes. All these costs are paid for by our rescue. You won’t have to pay for these normal costs or bother with the headaches of having to take your new dog to a vet for all these procedures.

We strongly suggest that you complete the adoption application process before choosing a dog from our web page. Most of the dogs on this web page will have approved adopters already looking at them. We get new dogs on a regular basis. The application process can take a couple of weeks depending on your schedule. You will have access to all of our available dogs once you are approved to adopt a rescue dog. Please visit www.luckyshepherds.com for more information. Please note that we only serve the Greater Houston area. We do not adopt our dogs to homes outside of the Houston and its neighboring areas.

More about this rescue

Lani’s Lucky Shepherds volunteers are dedicated to saving as many German Shepherds in the Greater Houston Metro area as humanly possible - based on current resources of available foster homes, the rate at which we can find suitably matched adoptive homes, and of course, financial resources for veterinary care.

Lani’s Shepherds mostly come from animal shelters where they are awaiting euthanasia. All of these Shepherd Dogs need loving, forever homes and families to call their own. We have several GSDs available for adoption and we regularly take in more Shepherds under our wings and into our Rescue Program, increasing the numbers of dogs available for adoption. Whenever we can, we also work with other dog rescue groups in Texas and nationwide to help ensure the safety and security of these wonderful animals.
