This helps Bay Area German Shepherd Dog Rescue with pet care costs.
Hi, I’m Sasha. I’m a very soft and sweet girl who looks like a mini German Shepherd — I’m about 55 pounds right now and still young, but I won’t be a big dog. I’m that “just right” size a lot of people love.
I’m a little shy when I first meet new people or go into new places. I get anxious and timid at first, but I really, really try my best. Once I feel safe, my playful side comes out and I start seeking engagement and connection. I love treats (especially soft jerky!), but my foster doesn’t lure me with them — they want me to approach on my own, and I’m learning to do that more and more.
I allow handling just fine, and my foster was even able to pick me up and place me gently into the car. In the car, I’m very quiet. I just sit up, look around, and take everything in.
I love playful dogs! I’ve been great with every dog I’ve met so far, especially the tiny ones who like to bounce around with me. Sometimes I can be a little too forward because I’m still learning how to “speak dog,” but when another dog tells me to chill, I listen right away.
I keep my kennel clean, though no one is quite sure if I’ve ever lived inside a home before. I’d do best with a foster who’s home a lot, in a calm, quieter environment, with another nice, confident dog to show me how everything works. I shouldn’t be off-leash for quite a while unless I’m in a fully enclosed space and dragging a long line — safety is really important for me right now. I do come back for treats, though!
I’m gently playful with toys and the ball, but I’m still figuring out how those games work. What I do know is that I’ll bond deeply with my person. I’m learning that the world isn’t as scary as it felt before, and I’m already walking nicely on leash and following my fosters wherever they go.
I’ve had a rough start with humans, but I’m growing, learning, and getting braver every day. With patience, kindness, and slow, confident socializing, I’m going to become the sweetest, most loyal companion — maybe yours.
