Here's what the humans have to say about me:
History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue efforts continue all winter long as we have recently welcomed another deserving group from our rural area partners in North Dakota.
A Note from the Foster: Meet Rich, a handsome pup with a huge heart. He's shy at first and needs time to get comfortable with new people and situations, but once he warms up, he's incredibly sweet, gentle, affectionate, and playful.
Rich's favorite activities include chewing on Benebones, lounging in the backyard, chasing balls, and wrestling with the resident dog. He has a medium energy level—after his walks or playtime, he's happy to chill on the couch, chewing on a bone and watching the world go by. He could spend hours quietly looking out the window.
Rich is potty trained and stands by the door when he needs to go out. He's smart and eager to please, and he quickly learned to use the doggy door from the porch to the fenced yard. He’s great in the car and would be a terrific road trip copilot. His leash skills are improving, and he has great manners at mealtime, sitting on command and waiting for the okay to eat.
He's generally content in his crate if left alone for a few hours, though he might protest a bit at first. At night, he sleeps quietly in his bed in the same room as his people. Rich loves being close to his humans and thinks he's an 80+ pound lap dog. He’s a terrific office buddy and would be the perfect companion for someone working from home.
Rich isn't sure about cats or small animals, so it might be best without them. He'd do great as an only dog or with a confident dog friend to play with. Rich is looking for a quiet home with folks who can be around him a lot. He does best in a predictable environment, so a busy household isn't right for him. For this reason, we recommend a home with no children. Visitors need to give him space until he's comfortable, as new people and unexpected activities can make him anxious.
Rich has experienced a lot of changes and challenges in his short life, and he deserves to find a loving home where he can feel safe and cherished. With the right person or family, he'll be a loyal and devoted companion. He has a gentle spirit, a playful nature, and endless love to offer the person or people who are lucky enough to share their lives with him.
