Meet Hefty Smurf, an adorable little pup who arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 11/7. At just 3 months old and weighing 17 pounds, he’s possibly a mix of Aussie Kelpie and Dutch Shepherd, according to my Dog Scanner app. This happy-go-lucky boy is full of energy and fun, loves playing with toys, and enjoyed the treats I gave him. Having spent his whole life in the shelter, he’ll need someone patient to guide his behavior and channel his boundless puppy energy. He doesn’t yet know how to walk on a leash and tends to jump up, but with time, patience, and training, he’s sure to become a devoted and loving member of a family.
