My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Vaquita is a sweet young cat who adores her humans and is extremely affectionate. She enjoys playing and leaping around with her toys, and when the playing is done, she loves to sleep with her two-legged family and purr them to sleep. She's gets along very well with other cats and enjoys chasing around and frolicking with them. She also likes watching the birds out the window for a little extra excitement.

Vaquita was rescued from the streets of South Central Los Angeles, and she must have had a very rough time surviving out there, because when we found her she had a bad mouth infection. The vet removed all of her teeth, which resolved the problem, and now she has to eat only wet food, or dry food soaked in water, but she's doing fine with that. We're very happy that her mouth has healed, and that she's adjusted to her new diet and is thriving, because this little girl is simply a wonderful kitty and is so incredibly cuddly and affectionate -- truly a gem. Whoever adopts her will be so lucky, and will experience endless joy and comfort.

We adopt animals to homes in the Los Angeles area and neighboring counties.

To help ensure that we place our cats in loving, responsible, committed homes, we have a screening process before you can adopt a pet from Kitten Rescue. We reserve the right to turn down potential adopters as we deem necessary. First, we ask that you complete our Adoption Questionnaire at kittenrescue.org/cat-adoption-form/. You can complete the form online or you may stop by a weekly adoption event to complete form in person. Second, a home visit or a home delivery of the cat or kitten is also required as part of our adoption process.

The Kitten Rescue adoption fee is $150 for a kitten or cat up to 10 years old, and $100 for each additional kitten or cat to the same household ($250 if you adopt a pair). Cats above 10 years old have a fee reduction of 50%, for an adoption fee of $75 each.

All of our cats have already been:
Spayed or neutered
Vaccinated – with at least one FVRCP vaccination
Treated for fleas
Dewormed
Tested for FeLV (Feline Leukemia) and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)
Microchipped

Kitten Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization devoted to finding loving homes for unwanted, homeless cats and kittens. We rescue cats and kittens from the streets of Los Angeles and from City Shelter euthanasia. Since our start in 1997, we have grown into one of the largest, most well-respected animal welfare groups in LA.

Kitten Rescue volunteers adopt out over 2,000 cats and kittens into homes every year. We educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, how to care for kittens and cats, and the importance of spaying and neutering. Kitten Rescue makes educational material available via events, print, school presentations and here on our website. We also provide Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) assistance for communities in and around Los Angeles, and teach people how to manage and care for feral cat colonies.
