My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fancy
You know that old saying, `footloose and fancy-free`? Well, I was just that when I was found as a stray cat on October 20. My finder brought me home and put me in her Catio. I didn`t react well to this, and I wasn`t happy about being brought into the house. I did not enjoy the resident cat`s company, nor did I like being put into the cat carrier. My finder decided we were not meant to be buds and brought me to the HSHC. I am a shy cat with a story of independence, now looking for a gentle, understanding home where I can feel safe and loved. Fast forward to December 8, and I am living in a 2-room apartment, gradually feeling more at ease. I am a striking 2-year-old DSH with a white-and-grey tabby coat. The interviewer lady (IL) stopped by to visit with me, and although I was pleasant, I was not very trusting. I hesitated about sniffing her and avoided letting her pet me. The HSHC staff feel that I am naturally reserved and will take much longer to adjust to a new owner and home than is typical. I am a pretty girl, but not very confident. I know I need to find a permanent home, especially since it`s winter now. But I require an experienced cat lover who understands a nervous cat. I have my whole life to look forward to, as long as I have a caring human to depend upon. 12-8-25

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
