1️⃣ Health Condition
* Neutered.
* Microchipped, and heartworm re-test scheduled (March 2026).

2️⃣ Rescue Story
* Hoya was at the Cheongju City Shelter, waiting for a human touch. However, as time passed and no one came to claim him, he was eventually placed on the euthanasia list. That’s when he was rescued.

3️⃣ Basic Information
* With People: Is shy around strangers and tends to be wary at first. However, once he gets to know you, he’ll wag his tail to welcome you! Accepts touch from familiar people and will even approach first if you have treats. Overall, he is somewhat indifferent to people and prefers to maintain a respectful distance. Is sensitive about being touched on his belly, hindquarters, and back legs. Sudden movements or unexpected touching can startle him, leading to defensive nipping. Is currently working very hard on socialization training to become more comfortable around people!
* With Dogs: Gets along calmly with dogs of a similar size. Rather than playing directly with others, he prefers to roam around and explore on his own. Hasn't met smaller dogs yet, but since he tends to lung at small animals during walks, extreme caution is needed if introducing him to smaller breeds.
* With Cats: Gets highly overexcited and tries to chase cats, so he is not recommended for a home with feline friends.
* Separation Anxiety: Unknown, as he is currently living in a group environment.
* Potty Training: Only goes potty outdoors at our center.
* Hygiene: Stays calm for brushing if done by someone he trusts. However, he is very sensitive about his paws and avoids having them touched, so his nails have not been trimmed yet.
* Walks: Pulls a bit at the start of a walk due to excitement, but settles down if given a moment to calm. However, he reacts strongly and tries to bolt when he sees other animals; even with leash pressure, he tends to react again immediately.
* Car Sickness: Handles car rides very well without any motion sickness.
* May reflexively nip if his belly, hindquarters, back legs, or paws are touched. May also nip defensively if startled by sudden or forceful physical contact from strangers. His behavior has improved significantly through ongoing desensitization training.
* Has shown no history of barking or whining.
* Is playful and loves running around the yard! Also enjoys treats and going for walks.
* Reacts sensitively to being touched in his "off-limit" areas. Feels uncomfortable being picked up or held.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

All our dogs fly from South Korea to the US when their adoptions are finalized so the adopters cannot go through "meet and greet."
But once applicants pass zoom interview, we will connect adopter to foster team for the most up to date news as well as photos and videos. The adopter can post any questions and can make video call as well.
Please hold our dog's hands so that they can forget about the painful past and live happily.

More about this rescue

ADOGS(Adopt Dogs), a non-profit organization, is an abandoned dog foster/adoption organization launched by an individual volunteer group that has rescued, fostered, adopted dogs since 2018.

We are conducting rescue, foster, adopt from South Korea rural shelter. We also rescue dogs irregularly from illegal dog farms or any other places that need help.
We rescue large and small dogs of all breeds, including dogs with special needs.

Although we can't save all abandoned dogs in the world, we are doing our best to the dogs in front of us so that their lives can be changed like any other pets.

In expanding our search for adoption leads, we’ve broadened our mission: To bring at-risk dogs across the Pacific to loving stateside families.

Due to limited demand for large-breed dogs in Korea, arranging for local adoption has proven almost impossible. Instead, we seek to bring these persecuted dogs to the United States where dogs have a higher chance for adoption and survival.
