My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Petey!

Petey is a quirky, lovable pup with a personality that’s impossible not to adore. He has a playful spirit, a big heart, and an endless fascination with his toys—he can entertain himself (and you!) for hours chasing, tugging, and exploring. Petey is a true “Velcro dog,” always wanting to be near his people, following them from room to room, and soaking up every bit of attention and affection he can get.

While Petey is still learning the basics, he is eager to learn, highly motivated by praise and treats, and responds beautifully to patience and positive reinforcement. He thrives in a home that will help him continue building his confidence, teaching him manners, and celebrating his funny, unique quirks along the way.

Petey is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested—so he’s ready to join a loving family who can give him the guidance, playtime, and companionship he craves. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, and slightly quirky companion who will stick by your side through all of life’s adventures, Petey is the perfect match!

More about this shelter

The mission of the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown is to provide a safe haven for lost, homeless, and abused companion animals; to help reunite lost companion animals with their family; to find new homes for adoptable and abandoned animals; and to aid in strengthening the human to animal bond.

It is the dream of the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown to have a community where no companion animal is left to starve and fend for itself; and where companion animals have a comfortable and loving place to life until a permanent home can be found.
