Meet Carrie! 🐾
Carrie is a sweet but shy German Shepherd who came to us after her owner could no longer care for her. She isn’t spayed yet, so she is only available for adoption to residents of Pittsylvania County or Danville City until she can be spayed.

Carrie has a gentle heart but can be timid in new situations. She is still learning her manners and will benefit from continued training, structure, and patient guidance as she adjusts to her new home. With time and reassurance, she has the potential to become a loyal, confident companion.

Because she can be easily overwhelmed, we prefer she go to a home with no small children, giving her the calm environment she needs to feel safe and comfortable.

If you’re looking for a loving shepherd who needs patience, understanding, and a chance to blossom, Carrie may be the perfect match.

Our staff will work with potential adopters to help them find the right fit for their family as adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment.

Adoption Prices
Cats/Kittens: $75
Adult Dogs: $75
Heartworm Positive Dogs: $100
Puppies: $150 to $300

The prices listed above include the pet's spay/neuter, initial vaccines up to date, rabies vaccine, monthly preventatives (heartworm and flea/tick prevention), heartworm testing in all adult dogs (6 months and older), FeLv/FIV testing in all adult cats (6 months and older).

A $5 microchip fee is added to every adoption.

If you live in Pittsylvania County, you will be required to purchase a Pittsylvania County dog tag for an additional $5 (cash only).

The Pittsylvania Pet Center is committed to protecting the health, safety and well-being of all companion animals by working with Animal Control Officers in the enforcement of state and local laws, reducing the number of stray and homeless animals, and providing the best care possible for every animal that comes through our doors.
We will shelter and care for homeless, abandoned, and lost animals, work to keep and place animals in safe, loving homes, and provide education and resources to pet owners to enhance their lives and the lives of their companion animals.
