Meet Clay! Clay is eagerly awaiting his forever family! While he may be a little older, he still has a wonderful balance of playful energy and laid-back charm. He’s happy to chase a tennis ball or take a walk around the block, but he’s just as content to relax and snuggle on the couch with his people.
Clay has participated in playgroup and has done well with female dogs his size. He’s been around both male and female dogs but seems to have a soft spot for the ladies. He would do best with a canine companion who has a similar energy level — he enjoys playtime but isn’t overly physical and tends to tire out more quickly, so very young or high-energy dogs may not be the best match.
During a short stay in foster care, we learned that Clay is crate trained and does well sleeping in his crate at night. He can be a strong puller on leash and would benefit from continued leash training, as well as a home with a secure yard where he can safely enjoy outdoor time.
If you’re looking for a sweet, well-rounded companion who’s ready for both playtime and peaceful evenings, Clay might be the perfect fit for your home. Come meet him today! His adoption is also sponsored right now.
Stop by the shelter during regular business hours to visit available pets. AVHS is open 6 days a week 11am-6pm, closed Wednesdays, adoptions wrap up at 5:30pm each day.
