My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fancy is a 4 year old English Bulldog - Boston Terrier mix that weighs about 35lbs. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention.

Fancy is the neigborhood flirt who always wants to be the cernter of your world.  She is always on the hunt for cuddles and snuggles and will be loyal - maybe too loyal as you may find her following you to the bathroom. Fancy can also spend hours playing fetch in the yard - as long as you are by her side.  A true best friend, Fancy is waiting to see if you are her match!

She can sometimes forget how big she is but is gentle enough to not mow down any little ones but a home with adults or older kids with good balance may be best.  Fancy would love to spend her nights snuggled up with her people while giving belly rubs and giving kisses. She also enjoys a good chew toy!

She loves everyone, but needs a home where she is the only dog. She is very playful, but also enjoys lounging around in a comfy dog bed, whether inside or outside.  She can be shy at first but show her a kind hand and she will warm up very quickly.  She wants to give and get nothing but love and fun times!

If you would like to give Fancy her forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $350. She is being fostered in the Saint Peters, MO area. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.

The first step in the adoption process is to fill out the application at southerncrossbtr.com. Before filling out an application it is recommended that you visit the informational pages on this site to determine whether or not a rescued Boston Terrier is for you. The application is quite extensive so be prepared to spend some time filling out answers to ALL the questions. It is necessary that you fill out every possible field. Unfinished applications will not be considered. A completed application is indicative of a genuinely interested adopter, and only these will be considered. Only leave blank the questions that do not apply to you, and type "Not Applicable" where you can in the answer fields to these questions.

When you have completed the online form, click the "submit" button at the bottom and your application will be sent to someone on the board of the rescue to be reviewed. This member will contact your veterinarian (if applicable) and verify your information. If all questions have been answered and the information on your application has been verified by a veterinarian, your application will then go before the board to be considered. If the board approves the application, you will be contacted to schedule a home visit. Please be patient as this process can take up to two weeks. Applications are handled on a first come, first serve basis.

If your application has been accepted, someone will contact you to arrange a home visit. During the home visit, a member of our board will conduct a brief inspection of your home and a personal interview. Please do not feel intimidated by this step in the process. The home visit is not conducted to judge anyone on anything other than that the home is safe and suitable for a dog. The visit is brief and helps us to determine the dog that would best fit your environment.

The findings from the home visit and in-person interview are then submitted back to the board. A decision will be made at this point as to whether or not the dog that has been applied for is a good match for the applicant's lifestyle and environment. If it is determined that a specific dog is not a good match for an applicant, another dog may be recommended to you.

Once all of these steps have been completed, you may come to the foster home and pick up your new family member and pay his/her adoption fee. This includes altering, microchip, shots, fecal and heartworm test, de-worming, as well as any other necessary procedures. The dog will be current on a monthly heartworm medication.

The adoption process usually takes about two weeks to complete. Due to the massive amount of e-mail we receive, you will only be contacted by us if you are approved. Please try and avoid emails regarding your application status for at least two weeks as it only slows down the process. The adoption process may seem lengthy or even extreme, but we assure you that each step is as necessary as the next in finding these precious dogs the best possible homes, and finding each applicant the best suited Boston Terrier.

Go meet their pets

Foster homes will communicate with potential adopters about each foster. Potential adopters may see if foster homes will meet with them to see the dog but it isn't required for the foster home to do so. First meeting is the day you go with the intensions of adopting the Boston. The day of meeting is the day you can adopt the foster if you have been approved.
