My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dwight pka Atticus is fostered in Omaha, NE.

This stunning boy is Dwight.  He and another aussie were left in their homes when their former owner moved.  The tenant found them and they landed at the shelter.  As you can imagine, they were incredibly scared.  Both dogs have warmed up, opened up and shown us their wonderful personalities.  The female has already found an adopter.  It's now Atticus' turn to do so.

This handsome boy is estimated to be 2 - 3 years old male black tri Australian Shepherd with stunning blue eyes. He is about 55 lbs and he is a total gem.  Atticus arrived in his foster home and has meshed well with the 3 other resident dogs.  He can be a tad shy with new persons, but he warms up pretty quickly with yummy treats. He has great dog manners, he loves to play and he is great in the car.

This guy is a TOTAL package, but you have been warned that he WILL steal your pillow.  Because of him being abandoned, his foster home is dilligently working with him on being left longer and longer periods of time.  He may pace when you first leave him, but this is improving greatly as he gets more comfortable with a consistent schedule.

We would prefer that his adoptive home have someone who works from home.  We do also recommend another dog in the home, as he has been accustomed to this.  He can be in the home with dog-savvy cats, but may choose to chase.  He does correct easilty and has not ever harmed a cat.

Dwight's foster cannot say enough good things about him!  He is a total love bug and all around great dog with great manners.  Are you looking for a sweet boy to join your household?  He could be the one!!

Dwight is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, negative for all tick borne diseases and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
