My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Taylor, a charming 2-year-old American Pitbull whose strong, beefy build is perfectly matched by his soft and sweet personality. Though he may look tough at first glance, Taylor is truly a gentle soul who loves nothing more than being close to the people he adores. He’s playful, affectionate, and always ready to brighten your day with his happy tail wags and warm presence. Whether he’s trotting proudly by your side or settling in for some well-earned snuggles, Taylor’s loyal and loving nature shines through. He’s the perfect blend of strength and sweetness, just waiting to share his big heart with a family who will cherish him.

More about this shelter

Established in 1962 as a valuable service to the people of Macon County. We are a registered 501c3.
In 2014, to avoid being confused with the new county animal control facility, the Mason County Humane Society began doing business as Appalachian Animal Rescue Center, a no-kill humane society.
Our shelter, located at 851 Lake Emory Road in Franklin, houses some 80-100 dogs and cats. Animal Care Technicians provide for our animals 365 days a year. We offer low-cost spaying and neutering, vaccines, and microchip implantation through Humane Alliance, and ASPCA clinic in Asheville. We take in animals from the public, as well as animals from the county shelter, and place them in permanent homes. Our transport program, meanwhile, gives cats and dogs a second chance in areas of the country where available pets are scarce.
