My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet John Boy! 🐾
Looking for a seasoned companion to share your cozy moments and casual adventures? Meet John Boy, a handsome 7-year-old Chi-Jack Russell Terrier mix ready to become your new best friend!

Quick Facts:
Age: 7 years old

Breed: Chi-Jack Russell Terrier Mix

Training: House-trained and crate-trained (needs a break every 4 hours).

Social: Loves to cuddle and hang out with his people. Fine with other dogs after a slow, calm introduction.

Kids: Has not been tested with young children.

What Makes John Boy Special?
John Boy is a true cuddle connoisseur who lives to be close to his humans. Whether you're watching a movie or just relaxing, he wants to be right there with you, proving himself to be the ultimate companion.

But don't let his love for lounging fool you! John Boy also has a playful side and would love to be your little adventure buddy for walks, hikes, and all things outdoors. He’s the perfect dog for someone who enjoys a nice mix of activity and downtime.

If you are looking for a loyal, sweet, and perfectly sized companion, John Boy is ready to meet you!

John Boy's adoption fee is $300 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue’s care.
We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website. www.northernlakesrescue.org

Additional adoption info

Northern Lakes Rescue wants to make adopting your next pet the best experience you have in adopting a pet. When you see a animal you are interested, in we encourage you to email us at info@northernlakesrescue.org with what dog you are interested in.

NLR is 100% volunteer run, and we do our best to respond within 48 hours to all email inquiries regarding adoptions.

All adoptions will require an application, home visit, personal and vet references and a meet and greet. Our adoption fees range from $300-425 depending on the dog.
All dogs over 6 months of age will be spay/neutered, vaccinated to age and micro-chipped. Puppies being adopted will require a spay/neuter and vaccine contract.

Finalizing an adoption includes signing a contract and paying the adoption fee.

Go meet their pets

Northern Lakes Rescue is foster based so all dogs are being fostered by amazing volunteers across the state of MN. Because of this, we require all meet and greets to be scheduled after an application is submitted.

Our focus after you apply is to get you scheduled to meet the dog within 3 to 7 days.

More about this rescue

Our Vision is to be a voice for those who are voiceless. We hear them with our hearts and give them a voice. Looking into the eyes of a rescued animal will speak volumes; watching those eyes light up will have an everlasting impact on you and the rescued animals.

We aren’t a typical rescue as we don’t take in dogs and put them in kennels until they’re adopted. All dogs we rescue are placed in loving foster homes that teach them to be the best dog they can be.

Our journey doesn’t end with adoption, either. We are here for you to support you in integrating your new member into your home, cheer new triumphs, and help with struggles.
