My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Foster Day 1!

• Calm and relaxed in the car; enjoyed the window and laid down comfortably

• Slow but calm exploring the new house; a little timid but not reactive

• Follows me closely and shows strong trust/bond with humans

• Overall temperament: gentle, people-oriented, calm, slightly shy in new environments

Daisy is very human oriented and is fully house trained! She needs a little work walking on the leash, but she loves walks! She is the sweetest girl, all she wants is to lay her head on you and be pet. I believe she is the perfect family dog or for anyone that doesn’t have any current pets in the house! She loves car rides, sniffing around outside, playing with the bone, ball, etc! She also is a very big cuddler, and stays off furniture unless invited on!

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 kittens up to 6 months
$120 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
