Penny, aka Pretty Penny, was born to love and be loved. She has two modes: Tornado on four legs and couch potato — there is no in between!
This 8-month-old, 45-lb German Shepherd mix is a delightful blend of playful, goofy, and sweetly clingy. She’s clumsy in the most endearing way, loves climbing right into your lap (despite being far too big for it), has zero concept of personal space and will definitely stare at you like you’re her favorite person in the world. Personal space? Never heard of it. Whether she’s doing zoomies across the yard or melting into the couch, Penny’s favorite place is wherever you are.
Penny is very food-motivated — and while her attention span might rival that of a gnat (or a chicken nugget 🍗), she’s smart and eager to please. She’s what we like to call a “pay-me-first” type of employee. She knows sit, look at me, paw, and lay down, but she expects to see the goods (aka treats) before performing her tricks. The good news? She’s starting to respond to commands without a treat in sight — progress, people!
She’s still learning her strength when it comes to jumping up and gentle mouthing during play, so continued guidance will help her polish those puppy manners. She’s house-trained and crate-trained, has never had an accident indoors, and sleeps soundly through the night. She may whine a bit when you leave or head upstairs (she’s just making sure you remember how much she loves you), but she’s improving as she gains confidence and trust.
She’s shown interest in other dogs and has been friendly with neighborhood pups, though she can get a bit too excited during greetings. Penny would thrive in a home where she gets plenty of attention, consistent training, and space to zoom around.
She’s a medium-energy girl who needs time to play, but she’s just as happy to curl up beside you for hours. She does have a jealous streak — after all, she believes she’s the star of the household — and her bark is as big as her personality, so a family who can appreciate her “big voice” will fit her best.
If you’re looking for a loyal, silly, endlessly loving companion who will keep you laughing and your heart full, Pretty Penny might just be your perfect match. 💛
She's currently not a big fan of car rides and can only tolerate about 20-minute drives (she gets car sick) but we're hoping she'll be able to work through that as time goes on.
Adoption requirements:
💛 Room to play (and zoom)
💛 Tolerance for dramatic barking
💛 Love for goofy dogs who give 110% in everything they do
