My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Filo, a 4-year-old Boxer/Lab mix with the rare trifecta: he has lived successfully with big dogs, small dogs, a cat, and a toddler — and was described by his previous family as friendly, playful, lovable, potty trained, crate trained, and easy to handle.

In the shelter, Filo shown the same great qualities:

  • Super housetrained
  • Great with toys (fetch is his love language — he’ll even drop the ball into your hand)
  • Soft, social play style with lots of dogs
  • Affectionate, cuddly, gentle once he knows you
  • Easy to leash, easy to walk, easy to re-kennel
  • Food-motivated and fun-motivated — the perfect combo for training

Filo’s ideal home can be almost anything: a house with a yard, an active apartment, a family with kids, a multi-pet home, or a person who wants a playful buddy who also settles beautifully. He’s a ready-made companion with real-world experience and a big, soft heart.

Come meet Filo — he’s the kind of dog who makes a home feel warmer the minute he walks in.

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 kittens up to 6 months
$120 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
