My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Copper (3 yrs, 58 lbs, fully vetted, and finally looking like someone who no longer needs a “please feed me” sign).

Copper came in skinny, beat up, and shaped a little like a question mark — as in “why has life been like this?”
We’ve been rebuilding him behind the scenes with good food, medical care, and time to feel safe again.

Now he’s fully vetted and finally adoption-ready… and he sat with Santa like he was calmly explaining,
“Sir, I believe I qualify for back-pay on good boy hours.”

Copper is:
• genuinely good with other dogs
• a kid favorite
• calm, steady, unbothered
• the kind of dog who would help your grandma carry in groceries if he had thumbs

There’s nothing dramatic about him — he’s just a solid, class-act dog who deserves an upgrade after getting the short end of every stick so far.

If you want a dog who will sit next to Santa and look like he’s negotiating his benefits package… Copper is your guy.

More about this shelter

We are a small rural shelter that works very hard to find homes or rescues for our dogs. We have a 97% save rate at our shelter which we are very pleased about. Our staff and volunteers work very hard for our dogs. We are always looking for volunteers to help us clean kennels, walk dogs, and just spend some time with the dogs. Donations are very important for our shelter, as we operate on donations.
We have some of the best dogs in Ohio and would love for them to find a new furever home with you!
