What is Rehome?
If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
This is Maddie. She is a smart, sweet girl who loves to cuddle and is eager to please. She was originally a rescue that was with a husband/wife couple for three years before we got her.
When we got her, the owners thought she was a lab/whippet mix but we recently got her DNA results back and she is 46% Mountain Cur (a hunting dog), then some Pitty, Staffy and Cattle Dog.
Her ideal home situation would be a loving, active family with older kids OR no kids. She is anxious around younger, unpredictable/energetic kids and has given warning nips to our five-year-old and got her face once while doing this. She is mostly OK with our other dog but has recently started resource guarding her around toys or me.
She is a very loving dog but we do not feel we can do what it takes to manage the safety of our daughter. A calmer environment would serve her well as she is constantly managing the kids and anxiously moving about the house. She loves fetch, scent work and learning new tricks!
