My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

DEER was found living in a backyard under a shed and with her Woodland Litter (Squirrel, Chipmunk and Hedgehog) when we received a call to help rescue them from where they were living and get them to safety. She was a wonderful mum to her 3 girls and now it’s her time to shine and find her forever home. She’s been spayed, had her 2 sets of vaccines including a rabies shot, Revolution and a microchip plus a clean bill of health from her vet. If you’re looking for the sweetest most affectionate kitty out there then look no further as here’s your girl. She loves to snuggle up with you and turns into a purring machine when she gets the attention she craves. She loves being around people and everyone she meets gets greeted with loud meows.

DEER is litter box trained and has been ever since coming into the rescue. She’s fostered with a few cats and kittens and is very social with them and will even curl up and have a snooze beside them as well. We would love to see her go to a home with another cat as she does really enjoy their company but she can be an only cat provided she’s not left on her own for long periods at a time. She hasn’t met a dog but if there’s a cat savvy one in the home then they should do well together. We do always recommend a slow, monitored introduction between them while the dog is kept leashed. Children should be aged 6 years and up plus be loving, gentle and calm around animals.

DEER loves to sit in the cat tree and have a nap and she also uses the scratch pad attached to it. She’s very playful and loves to chase the little plastic balls around especially the ones with the little bells in. She eats both kibble and wet food and just loves Temptations treats and lick sticks.
If DEER sounds like she’d blend right in with your family then please submit an adoption application to meet her.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
