My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a loyal companion who’s equal parts cuddle buddy and walking partner? Shadow might just be your perfect match! At 2.5 years old, he’s a beautifully unique blue merle Terrier mix — and his heart is just as big as his paws.
This sweet 55lb boy is well-behaved and trained — he knows all the basics like sit, stay, down, paw, and crate, and he loves showing off his skills. He’s fully crate trained and happy to hang out in his space when needed.
But more than anything, he’s a lover. He adores head scratches, leans in for affection, and thrives on human connection. Whether it’s a long walk or just chilling near you while you read or work, he’s happiest by your side. He’s polite, calm in the house, and listens beautifully — truly an easygoing and respectful companion.
While we’re still learning how he does with other pets, he would be best as the only dog for now to focus on his training and give him all the attention. With patience and love, we believe he’ll bloom into the confident, happy dog he was always meant to be.
Shadow is ready to find a forever home where he will be cherished, nurtured, and loved — could it be yours? More about this shelter

Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida with the mission of rescuing and sheltering abandoned and abused cats and dogs with the goal of finding them new homes. APR's adoption center has about 150 cats and 30 dogs, all of which receive nutritious meals, veterinary care, enrichment and love.

APR, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers who were trapping, spaying and neutering feral cats and quickly realized the greater need to help abandoned pets and advocate for a no-kill community. APR is funded solely by generous donors and grants.
